R. Creighton Shumway, PA-C joined our team in 2024 as a Physician Assistant in Behavioral Health. He received his Master’s of Physician Assistant Studies from Idaho State University and has been working in outpatient psychiatry since 2018. Creighton graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology and minors in Chemistry and Neuroscience. His career in medicine began as a Ski Patrol at Nordic Valley Resort in 2010, and continued when he joined South Ogden Post-Acute as a certified Physician’s Assistant.
He pivoted to Behavioral Health in 2016, and most recently gained practical experience at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare’s Division of Behavioral Health, where he helped assess, diagnose, and treat psychiatric conditions through pharmacologic, lifestyle, and interdisciplinary approaches. Creighton believes in taking a comprehensive approach to Behavioral Health, and treating any issues with the full picture in mind.
Creighton grew up near the mountains in Pleasant View, Utah. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, climbing, skiing and canyoneering. He has held several volunteer and leadership positions in the community, serving as a camp counselor at the Foundation for Children and Youth with Diabetes Camp, and as an after school Anatomy Club Mentor at Idaho State University.
