Megan Thompson, LMSW, joined the Grand Peaks Team September of 2021. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Brigham Young University-Idaho and went on to Boise State to complete her Master of Social Work. It was her opportunity to work with the Idaho Falls Assertive Community Treatment team. That experience helped her to understand addictions through the lens of trauma work, attachment theory and emotional regulation. She has past experience working with various populations, including those with addiction, depression, anxiety, trauma, marital conflict and betrayal trauma. Her therapy model is a blend of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy. She believes everyone has a story to share and a need to be seen, understood, and feel that they matter, particularly when facing life’s difficulties.
Megan is a native of Northern California and while she misses the ocean and a plethora of donut shops to choose from, she has embraced the seasons Idaho has to offer. Megan, her husband, Mark, and their 6 children have lived in Eastern Idaho since 2014. She enjoys going to the gym, date nights with her husband, spending time with her children, and reading.
